I have always known I wanted to be a dance teacher and
choreographer since I was five years old. My first dance training was in
Monterey, California and continued when we moved to Los Angeles. My
serious training continued in Buckinghamshire, England where I studied
under the Royal Academy of Dance curriculum for four years. When we
moved back to the States I took a break from dance to do cheerleading,
dance team, show choir, musicals and plays. When I discovered I could
study dance and choreography in College, my choice was clear. I entered
VCU in 1988 and received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance &
Choreography in 1992. After a two-year apprenticeship, I was offered a
full-time teaching position, upon graduation, with Royal Dance Company.
In the five years I was there I taught, choreographed and was the night
office manager. In 1994 I came to Dance Masters and by the end of the
year, became Director of the Fine Arts Department. In the 13 years I
have been in the DM family I have found a second home.
